December Recap

December was an extremely busy month for the foundation. Take a look back on all of the amazing events that took place this past month!

Our annual Teddy Bear Toss was held on December 9th at the FirstOntario Centre. Just over 4 minutes into the first period, Will Bitten scored on Saginaw's goalie and the stuffed animals started to fly onto the ice. When all was said and done 4,587 toys were collected from the game! A big thank you goes out to Pets Mart for graciously donated a large amount of toys available for sale at the game!

In the days following the Teddy Bear Toss, Hamilton Bulldogs players visited Lime Ridge Mall to drop off all of the toys to Toy Mountain. 2017 marked the 22nd anniversary of the CTV Toy Mountain Campaign benefiting the Salvation Army. With drop off locations all across the country, Toy Mountain is all about helping families in need so their children can experience the joy and exhilaration of unwrapping a gift on Christmas morning. The Salvation Army distributed all of these generous donations to the children in need just in time for Santa's visit!

After the drop off, the players stuck around for a signing, a meet and greet with fans and even had time for a visit with Santa!

On Wednesday December 13th, Hamilton Bulldog's players did their annual team visit to McMaster Children's Hospital. They spent the morning talking, laughing and playing games with the children, as well as surprising them with brand new stuffed animals for Christmas. It is so special to our players to be able to bring joy and smiles to the children who need it most around the holidays. On behalf of the Hamilton Bulldogs Foundation, thank you to the patients and staff of McMaster Children's Hospital for having us. We hope you enjoyed yourselves as much as our players did.

Our players have really been enjoying our partnership with the Telling Tales Festival supporting literacy this month. Our players embraced the book "Goodnight Hockey Fans" written by Andrew Larsen. Below is our very own #44 Mackenzie Entwistle reading it to his billet family kids over the holidays.

On December 16th at 2pm, the Rileys will took on the Argylls in the 5th annual Christmas Classic charity hockey game! The Bulldogs Foundation, along with the FirstOntario Credit Union, were honored to be hosting this wonderful event. The price of admission to the game was a donation of one new unwrapped toy in support of City Kidz Charity.

The Argylls beat the Rileys 4-3 but the biggest winners were area children. Thank you so much to everyone involved in coordinating this amazing event.

Lastly, Don't miss your chance to get your hands on a signed Marian Studenic game-worn Hamilton Bulldogs Jersey and a game-used signed stick! For a limited time these 2 great collectors items can be yours for just $350, with the proceeds going directly to the Hamilton Bulldogs Foundation.

Studenic was selected in the 5th round (143rd overall) by the New Jersey Devils in last years NHL Entry Draft. The Holic, Slovakia native is currently representing his country at the 2018 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships in Buffalo.

On behalf of the Hamilton Bulldogs Foundation, we would like to wish everyone a very Happy New Year! We had an amazing year and we look forward to an incredible 2018!
