Great Start to the New Year

February 15, 2018

2018 has been an exciting year so far for the Bulldogs Foundation. Our players and organization have been extremely busy attending events and getting out in the community in support of various initiatives. Let's take a look back on how the New Year has shaped up so far.

On January 27th, the Hamilton Bulldogs hosted the Oshawa Generals in their annual First Responders game in support of Hamilton Police, Paramedics and Fire Department. Prior to the game, the Bulldogs and Bulldogs Foundation recognized Waterdown native Mitch Brewer. The 16 year-old Generals rookie, whose father is a Brampton firefighter, raised over $10,000 in support of camp FACES.

Camp FACES offers counseling, networking and support for families affected by line-of-duty deaths. We at the Bulldogs Foundation were very proud to be able to donate $2500 to Camp FACES and support Mitchell.

A few days later, a handful of Hamilton Bulldogs players were lucky enough to get to attend the 67th annual B'Nai Brith Hamilton Sports Celebrity Dinner. Bulldogs player Robert Thomas had the honor of sitting at the head table with Jim Ralph, as well as meeting legendary Blue Jays player Joe Carter.

The B’Nai Brith Hamilton Sports Celebrity Dinner is one of Hamilton’s most anticipated annual charitable fundraising events. For over 60 years, they have been bringing the best in sports entertainment to Hamilton while raising funds for local charities

The following night, Bulldogs players Nick Donofrio, Riley Stillman and Kade Landry were at Buffalo Wild Wings in Stoney Creek accompanied by our mascot Bruiser serving tables for the evening.

It was an awesome way for fans and guests of Wild Wings to interact with the players and enjoy some amazing food. 10% of the sales from this event were graciously donated to the Bulldogs Foundation.

On February 6th to celebrate National Cupcake Day, Will Bitten and Riley Stillman headed over to Bitten Cupcakes (no relation) on Locke Street to assist in the decoration of cupcakes in support of the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA.

From now until the end of the season, you can get your 'Will Bitten Dozen' on the day of every Bulldogs home game. Walk in to Bitten on Locke on these days and receive 14 cupcakes for the price of 12!

Thursday February 8th marked our second School Day game of the season vs. the Barrie Colts. FirstOntario Centre hosted over 10,000 screaming students from Hamilton and the surrounding area that afternoon. The Director of Education for the HWCDSB was on hand for the opening ceremonial puck drop.

Thank you so much to both Hamilton school boards for supporting the game. It was such an amazing turnout and our foundation could not be more proud to support your high needs schools with nutritious breakfasts and snacks daily.

Moving along, Isaac Nurse and Bulldogs captain Justin Lemcke visited St. Patrick's school this past week to help the students celebrate Shrove Tuesday.

Thank you so much to the students and faculty of St. Patrick's for a great morning and wonderful breakfast. Our players absolutely love visiting with the students and schools that make up our Bulldog community and we look forward to many more visits this year.

Lastly, do not miss your chance to see Karl Subban talk about his new book "How We Did It" this Sunday February 18th at Hamilton Plaza! The Hamilton Bulldogs and Bulldog Foundation along with the City of Hamilton have partnered for the event.

Your Hamilton Bulldog PA announcer Aaron Walsh will be on hand to do a live Q&A with Karl at this event! tickets are available at:

Keep an eye out for the Bulldogs Foundation to take part in many more fantastic events throughout the year!
